More than six hundred scientific research studies have been made bringing to light the benefits of transcendental meditation'

Hundreds of these studies have been published in peer reviewed scientific journals. See below;-

STRESS;  "Transcendental meditation is more than twice as effective for relieving the mental effects of stress as all other meditation and relaxation techniques."   Ref; Journal of Clinical Psychology 45: 957-974(1989) & 33: 1076-1078 (1977)

ANXIETY; "These findings challenge a commonly held assumption that all meditation techniques are equally effective…. Transcendental Mediation reduced anxiety twice as effectively as other techniques…"  Ref; New Scientist, April 1990 - A meta- analysis of 99 studies.

During 20 mins of Transcendental meditation oxygen consumption and metabolic rate markedly decrease, indicating a state of very deep relaxation and rest of the physiology.  This was twice the depth of rest achieved after eight hours of a typical nights sleep.

Oxygen and carbon dioxide pressures in the blood show that the results were not caused by manipulation of breathing or forced deprivation but were a natural result of a lower requirement of oxygen.
